NRCA member donates products to help replace roof for breast cancer survivor

Mercedes Nuss, an Illinois-based breast cancer survivor and widow, began experiencing leaks from her 21-year-old roof that she feared could lead to future home damages. Nuss knew she needed to have the roof repaired soon but was working to pay off lingering medical expenses.

Nuss reached out to a local roofing company for assistance, and the company initiated a partnership with NRCA member Atlas Roofing Corp., Atlanta, to offer a free roof replacement to Nuss.

Atlas Roofing donated its residential roofing products to the two-day project, including 73 bundles of Pinnacle® Pristine Pewter, five bundles of Pro-Cut® Starter shingles, three bundles of Pro-Cut® Hip & Ridge shingles, six rolls of WeatherMaster® Ice & Water 200 underlayment and two rolls of Summit® 60 synthetic underlayment.

Atlas Roofing Sales Representative Brian Pelletier, whose mother also is a breast cancer survivor, said he is proud to be part of Atlas Roofing’s commitment to helping Nuss.

“This was an opportunity to do something good for someone in need, and I’m glad we could do it,” Pelletier said. “I am very proud and thankful to work for a company that gives back like this.”
