NRCA's website features a silica regulation resources page in its Members Only section that offers tools for contractors to use to comply with provisions of The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's rule regarding worker exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) in construction.
Additional sampling results for roofing industry exposure to RCS recently were added to the NRCA objective data collection section on the silica regulation resources page. Results will be added to the collection as final reports regarding personal breathing zone sampling are received from the firm performing the sampling. Currently, sampling results are available for removal and installation of asphalt shingles, modified bitumen and built-up roofing projects, as well as drilling and fastening into concrete and masonry, installation of gypsum roof boards, and vacuuming and installation of roof ballast and gravel.
