National Women in Roofing offers its REAL Roofing program, a comprehensive initiative focused on diversity, equity and inclusion within the roofing industry. NWiR spearheaded the creation of REAL Roofing in response to the need for transformative education.
With a commitment to inclusivity, the program’s inception was motivated by the desire to empower small and medium-sized contractors, ensuring DEI education remains accessible to all. The course provides an overview of key DEI concepts, including identity and language; bias awareness; discrimination and prejudice; and leadership and culture.
REAL Roofing is designed to include a range of learning methods, including 15-minute micro-lessons delivered via text and self-paced video lessons that cater to individual schedules. Participants receive a detailed workbook containing lesson outlines and glossaries, enriching their learning experience with optional live Zoom meetings for peer interaction.
American Institute of Architects and American Council of Engineering Companies credits can be obtained upon completing the program for a total of 10 Learning Units for AIA and 10 Professional Development Hours for ACEC.
Cohort 7 of the REAL Roofing program will begin Nov. 7. Learn more.
