Mississippi designates June as Careers in Roofing Month

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has officially proclaimed June as Careers in Roofing Month. Additionally, Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann proclaimed the first week of June as Careers in Roofing Week in the state.

NRCA member Graham Roofing Inc., West Point, Miss., is a founding member of Family Organizations Recruiting Great Employees, a group that sent a request to Reeves asking that June be proclaimed Careers in Roofing Month.

FORGE is “a group of community-minded small businesses, working alongside educators to recruit talented, skilled employees.” It requested Careers in Roofing Month to spotlight available roofing careers in Mississippi and help change the perception of skilled trades in the area.

FORGE and Graham Roofing cited positive actions such as NRCA holding National Roofing Week in June to celebrate roofing employees and highlight the industry, as well as NRCA and the National Center for Construction Education & Research working together to develop a roofing-specific curriculum.
