Beacon Roofing Supply Inc., Herndon, Va., is holding its annual Beacon of Hope contest, through which the company awards veteran homeowners new roofs.
The contest is open to all military veterans who received honorable or general discharges. Six winners will be selected from throughout the U.S., and Beacon Roofing Supply—with local companies—will deliver and facilitate roof repairs or replacements for six veteran contest winners at no cost to the recipients. Six second-prize winners will receive $2,500 each to help complete necessary repairs.
Through Sept. 17, the public can nominate a U.S. veteran by visiting the Beacon of Hope website or submitting an email to beaconofhope@becn.com. Nominations must include a photo and short bio of the veteran, including his or her military branch, years of service and why the nominee deserves a new roof.
Twelve finalists will be announced in October, and the public will have an opportunity to vote and determine the six winners.
