Dallas—In recognition of its generosity and service, Artisan Construction Co. Inc., Centennial, Colo., has been presented with the eighth annual CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award sponsored by the National Roofing Contractors Association and CNA, one of the largest U.S. commercial property and casualty insurance companies.
The award honors charitable works performed by NRCA contractor members.
Artisan Construction staff volunteered to play baseball with the children at Miracle League of Metro Denver—an organization that provides children and adults who are living with various mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. Artisan Construction also donates $250 to the Miracle League of Metro Denver for every reroof completed in Colorado. To date, $18,000 has been donated from roofing. Artisan Construction also recently replaced a lock with a more secure locking mechanism on an equipment trailer that had been vandalized.
CNA awarded Artisan Construction with $7,500 to be presented to Miracle League of Metro Denver. In addition, NRCA dedicated the proceeds of its Cyber Monday sale in November 2019 to Miracle League of Metro Denver.
Additionally, second-place winner Weatherproofing Technologies Inc., Beachwood, Ohio, received $5,000 for its charitable efforts regarding WomenSafe Inc. Weatherproofing Technologies, a subsidiary of Tremco Inc., has supported WomenSafe, a domestic violence shelter serving northeastern Ohio, for more than a decade by offering financial support, sponsorships and in-kind donations (food, clothing, hygiene products, household items, etc.). During 2019, Weatherproofing Technologies sponsored WomenSafe by donating $5,000, several meals as part of annual year-end celebrations and $400 to the organization’s annual fall luncheon fundraiser. The contractor also held a toilet paper drive and adopted a WomenSafe family in need for the holidays by fulfilling the family's wish list.
The third-place winner was KPost Roofing & Waterproofing, The Official Roofing & Waterproofing Company of the Dallas Cowboys, for its work with the Salvation Army. KPost held a school supply drive and donated 1,050 fully loaded backpacks to the Salvation Army to distribute to local children. In addition to the backpacks, KPost hosted a canned food drive on behalf of the Salvation Army. CNA awarded KPost with $2,500 for its charity.
In addition, Locklear Roofing Inc., Holly Springs, N.C., was the winner of the People's Choice Award, which was selected by public online voting on NRCA's website. Locklear Roofing received $1,500 for its work with Frankie Lemmon School and Developmental Center.
The awards were presented Feb. 5 at the NRCA Industry Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Reception held during NRCA's 133rd Annual Convention in Dallas.
