Listen to New Episodes of NRCA’s Two Inspiring Podcast Series

Rosemont, Ill.— The National Roofing Contractors Association has released new episodes from its two podcast series, “Growing America’s Roofing Workforce” and “Stories of an Extraordinary Industry.” The stories and successes of the companies, associations and individuals highlighted in the series’ episodes can help listeners learn how to recruit and retain workers, as well as provide encouragement and tips regarding how to overcome other issues roofing professionals may be facing.

“Women in Roofing,” the most recent episode of “Growing America’s Roofing Workforce,” highlights National Women in Roofing, a volunteer-based organization that supports women in the roofing industry. Anna Anderson, executive committee vice chairperson of NWIR and CEO of Art Unlimited, Angora, Minn., and Christee Holbrook, executive committee treasurer of NWIR and president of Graham Roofing, West Point, Miss., explain how to join the organization in regional chapters, at the national level or with a virtual option. In the podcast, which is sponsored by DensDeck® Roof Boards, Anderson and Holbrook provide tips on how to recruit female workers, as well as retain and empower them.

In the most recent “Stories of an Extraordinary Industry” episode, “How to Keep Employees for a Lifetime,” also sponsored by DensDeck Roof Boards, Reed Gooding, CEO of GSM Roofing, Ephrata, Pa., discusses his career as the third-generation owner of GSM Roofing. Gooding explains GSM Roofing’s employee retainment efforts and core values, as well as its 25 Year Club, which honors workers who have been with the company at least 25 years. Alan Buohl, estimator and project manager for GSM Roofing, describes his experience joining the company, his pride being a GSM Roofing employee for more than 40 years and the story of how his son also became involved with the company. GSM Roofing’s story encourages listeners to reassess their worker retention iniatives and provides guidance as to how retention issues can be solved.
