Rosemont, Ill. —The National Roofing Contractors Association and construction industry partners are organizing COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week in Construction April 19-23 to encourage construction professionals to do their part to help the U.S. end the COVID-19 pandemic and return to normal.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health asked construction industry leaders for help reaching out to industry professionals to meet the CDC goal of getting every eligible American vaccinated to protect against COVID-19. NRCA supports the CDC’s efforts and encourages all roofing professionals to participate in Vaccine Awareness Week in Construction.
NRCA is a member of the Construction Industry Safety Coalition that has compiled CDC resources roofing employers can share with their workers and trade partners to learn more about the effectiveness and availability of COVID-19 vaccines in their areas. In addition, resources are available to help employers boost vaccination confidence among their workers and manage vaccine misinformation.
NRCA is asking roofing employers to set aside a few minutes during the week of April 19 to build awareness with their workers about the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations. NRCA has created a comprehensive webpage that is tailored for the roofing industry and includes useful materials employers may use to talk to their workers and others on the job site. Also included are CDC-specific resources about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, why it is important to get vaccinated, where to find vaccines in your area and what you can do once you get vaccinated.
In addition to the CDC resources and NRCA materials, NIOSH will host COVID-19 Vaccines and Construction: Key Things to Know, a vaccine awareness webinar, Wednesday, April 21, at 1 p.m. CDT. It will be an excellent program for anyone leading a vaccine-awareness conversation in your company. NIOSH medical experts will provide information about current COVID-19 vaccines, the rollout of vaccines to construction workers and answer questions. Registration is available here.
Vaccine resources and more information about the initiative may be found here.
